The BMC Diversity Initiative has invited three distinguished Munich-based scientists to present their current research in translational optoacoustics (Miguel Pleitez), lipid metabolism and metabolic diseases (Susanna Hofmann), and oncolytic virus-based cancer immunotherapeutics (Jennifer Altomonte). They will also share insights into the key experiences and challenges that have defined their careers in research. Meet-the-speaker sessions following the talks will offer opportunities for questions and open discussion.

This symposium aims to highlight that scientific excellence is best fostered by researchers with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, as well as multifaceted personal and professional experiences.

Join us for this opportunity to network and exchange on exciting research as well as diversity in science – a topic that unites researchers from all cultures and at all stages of their careers.

Have you ever wondered how to deal with a challenging conversation more constructively? How to maybe adjust your communication style so that you can work towards a better, a more satisfying outcome?

Then this online workshop is for you.

We will be discussing, reflecting and trying out techniques to better manage challenging conversation. You gain some insights into what drives conflict and also your own style. Practical communication tools will be shared and practiced to equip you for future conversations.

While we are meeting online you can expect

- Some brief pre-work to get your mind ready for what is to follow 
- Interactive and reflective parts during 2 online days
- A practical follow-up session, to enhance your learning experience
