Promoting equality and diversity is of central importance for the institutions participating in PILOT; more information about the measures in place at the participating institutions is available below.

On top of this, PILOT incorporates a range of measures designed to support equality and diversity in all forms. We will additionally respond to the specific needs of scientists within the consortium. We want to create an environment that enables excellent scientists to flourish regardless of their personal characteristics or family situation.

  • Where project demands require members to work outside regular nursery opening hours, we can, in some circumstances, provide funding for childcare.
  • In order to support researchers with family or caring responsibilities, we can provide funding for flexible technician/student assistant posts to guarantee project continuation during absence/part-time periods.
  • We can provide flexible financial support for researchers (female or male) with children to facilitate combining work and family life, for example by funding home office equipment, student assistants, or childcare in exceptional circumstances such as sickness or nursery closure.

If you would like to know more, please contact our Equality Champion, Dunja Bruder, or the Central Coordination Team.

Viola K. Kraus

Career coaching aims to provide holistic career development support that focuses on identifying and utilizing your strengths, strategies to overcome potential challenges and realizing your personal ambitions and goals. The coaching will be provided by professional career consultant Viola K. Kraus (www.viola-kraus.com).

What can I discuss in the career coaching?

Discussion topics could include:

  • personal and professional growth
  • definition of personal and career goals
  • tools for better decision-making
  • and much more…

Who is eligible?

Female postdocs and senior doctoral researchers (3rd year and beyond) who work on PILOT projects.

Each eligible person can book up to two 1-hour coaching sessions in the first instance.

How does it work?

PILOT has purchased a limited number of coaching sessions with Viola K. Kraus. You can make an individual appointment by writing directly to her (vkraus@viola-kraus.com). Please mention your TRR 359 affiliation so that she can check that you are on the list of eligible PILOT members. Then you will have nothing more to do than enjoying your session with Viola.

You do not have to inform the PILOT coordination team or anyone else. Your sessions are thus anonymous with respect to your supervisor, lab colleagues, the PILOT team etc. Of course, if you have feedback about the coaching, we would be very happy to hear it but this is entirely optional.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Verena (trr359.copilot@med.uni-muenchen.de, 089 2180 71498)  or Anneke (trr359.pilot@uniklinik-freiburg.de, 0761 270 82460).
